The Ventura College Aquatic Center

The beautiful Ventura College Aquatic Center is located at the west end of the Ventura College campus. Surrounded by an extensive palm garden, the center is home to the Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving, and Water Polo teams. The 50 meter facility was opened in 1973 and has hosted many swimming and water polo championship events, including the 1988, 1998, and 2004 California State Swimming and Diving Championships.

The pool has an eight lane 25 yard all-deep competition area for swimming along with a 25 meter water polo course with two floating goals. A 60 ft. movable bulkhead provides flexibility in regards to competitive and training dimensions. Included at the facility are one meter and three meter diving boards, a full access hydraulic lift chair, and spectator seating areas. The complex also has an eight lane Daktronics Scoreboard matched to a Daktronics Omnisport 2000 timing system, complete with touchpads, an electronic starting system, and dual digital pace clocks that are also used as possession clocks for water polo games.

The 50,000 sq. ft. facility also boasts a bath house that contains instructor and lifeguard offices, a team room/classroom, spacious changing rooms, along with a computerized mechanical room area that electronically filters and treats the water and controls the temperature, clarity and chemical balance.
